For the Win: White River CU

Marketing outsourcing can be a game-changer for businesses. It lets companies focus on their strengths while leaving the marketing strategy and implementation to the experts. In fact, based on strategic analysis, outsourcing is an integrated process where a single resource handles it all. This can include everything from research, analysis, strategy, and planning to the execution of advertising, PR, direct marketing, communications, digital tactics, and printing.

Back in 2012, White River Credit Union (WRCU) partnered with Outmark® to strengthen its brand and level up its marketing game. For the past eleven years, we’ve partnered with WRCU to develop its marketing strategies and materials, helping it stand out as a trusted community credit union in the Plateau and beyond.

As part of our work together, we delivered a complete branding package. This included defining WRCU’s brand character, personality scale, color considerations, and audience segments. WRCU’s new brand is visible across email and social media, new web pages, and all future marketing materials. It’s also present in the community with fun community event flyers, pamphlets, brochures, and displays.

Outsource Marketing helped take our credit union to a new level. They updated our branch to create a warm, inviting, and quirky feel, modernized our website to reflect our fun personality, and helped us find new ways to connect with our members and the community. They also help us create our annual marketing plan and keep us on track and on budget. We love them for that!” – Brandy Fielding, CEO

We always have fun partnering with WRCU and continue to help them build engaging, relevant, and optimized content to support their goals and promote their services.

Leave marketing strategy and branding to us

Take advantage of our team’s expertise, experience, and resources; leave the marketing strategies and implementation to us. Outsourcing with Outmark allows you to scale your marketing efforts up or down as needed without the overhead costs of hiring and training an in-house marketing team.

Build my brand

If you want to take your business to the next level, bank on Outmark to put you in good standing.

Discover how AI effectively uses data and analysis in marketing https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/blog/ai-driven-marketing/ https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/blog/ai-driven-marketing/#respond Sat, 10 Feb 2024 21:33:39 +0000 https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/?p=21651 The post Discover how AI effectively uses data and analysis in marketing appeared first on Outsource Marketing.

AI in marketing project management

A study by Econsultancy found that 75% of marketers are already using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in some way, and 61% of marketers believe that AI is the most critical aspect of their data strategy.

We all know that AI has been making waves in the marketing industry for a while now. One of the most significant benefits to marketers is AI’s ability to analyze and interpret vast amounts of data. It’s mind-boggling. In this blog, we’ll explore how AI will become integral to marketing project management in 2024 and how Outmark® uses AI responsibly.

AI marketing brings new opportunities to the table

This new technology will bring new and innovative opportunities in 2024. For example, AI algorithms will be able to analyze data and predict future trends more accurately than ever. This will allow marketers to make more effective and efficient data-driven decisions. Additionally, smarter tools will enable marketers to personalize their campaigns more, resulting in more targeted and effective marketing messages.

AI Marketing: When to use it, when not to

While AI marketing has many benefits, it’s essential to know when and when not to use it. For example, AI marketing is beneficial for analyzing large amounts of data and making predictions. However, it’s less effective at understanding human emotions and making creative decisions. Marketing professionals need to understand the strengths and limitations of AI marketing and use it accordingly.

Outmark’s founder, Patrick Byers, points out, “AI leverages all other content that exists, so, by definition, it’s a race to the middle. At a time when differentiation is one of the most influential aspects of marketing, AI makes your content equal to everyone else, just average.”

Be realistic about their place. We can look at a website or article and tell with 99% accuracy (made-up statistics) if the content is AI-generated. For now, anyway, content technology like ChatGPT spits the same keywords and phrasing over and over again. Not an “authentic” reading experience.

Best uses of ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Bing’s Sydney

In 2024, many AI tools will be available for marketing professionals. Some of the best AI tools for marketing project management include ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Bing’s chatbot.

  • ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that can answer customer questions and provide personalized recommendations.

  • Google’s Gemini is an AI-powered language model that can help marketers create compelling content.

  • Bing’s chatbot, formerly codenamed ‘Sydney’ is an AI-powered search engine that can help marketers understand what their customers are searching for online.

Outmark’s use of AI Marketing

At Outmark, we’re committed to staying at the forefront of AI marketing. It’s constantly changing and we’re blown away by the evolution. We believe AI has the power to transform marketing project management, and we’re giddy about the possibilities that lie ahead. We continually train our team in the latest AI tools and techniques, actively seeking new and innovative ways to leverage AI for the benefit of our clients.

AI is set to transform marketing project management in 2024. However, it’s important to understand the strengths and limitations of AI marketing and use it accordingly.

From gratitude to gratitude: Keep employees engaged this season

Gobble, gobble! It’s that time of the year when people get together with family and friends, don their holiday aprons, stuff themselves with pumpkin pie, and give thanks for the blessings in their lives. But what about your second family? The folks who give their time, experience, and expertise to help your business thrive? Your work peeps.

Company culture and employee engagement are closely intertwined, and a business that prioritizes enhancing employee engagement reaps the rewards of boosted revenue, heightened productivity, and enhanced employee engagement. In fact, companies with high employee engagement are 21% more profitable.

But when it comes to keeping employees engaged during the holiday season, it can be as tricky as hiding the gravy boat from Great-Uncle McGravypants. But fear not. In this blog, we’re spicing up the season with a platter of ideas to keep your team thriving while still enjoying the festivities.

Address holiday work challenges ahead of time

Would you wait until Thanksgiving morning to defrost the turkey? Or wait until Christmas day to do your holiday shopping. Of course not—it applies to most of us, anyway. It’s the same with employee motivation. You must pre-plan how you’ll actively engage your teams during the holidays.

Yeah, yeah. We all get distracted during the holiday season. So what? Well, chew on this: in the US, over 50% of employees expect to lose focus at work and ready themselves for the festive season starting around December 15th. Further, Peakon, a global data company, has polled more than 15,000 employees and is tracking what they call the Great Christmas Click-Off. By the last Friday before Christmas, 70% of employees were utterly “clicked off.”

Therefore, to have a holly jolly season and a higher performing team (like Santa’s elves), you need to get a head start on your employee holiday engagement planning now. It’s never too early to start, and with a bit of fun and creativity, you can make this year’s holiday season a memorable one for your team.

Time to start ring-ting-ting-a-ling-ing

Sprinkle some holiday sparkle and magic in your workplace. It’s a stressful season for many, so any reprieve may be helpful. This time to breathe can be a quick 10-minute event or much longer, depending on what you think your team needs. Want ideas? Keep going.

Set aside time for employees to deck the halls, cubicles, or home office with holiday-themed decorations. How about a “Best Dressed Thanksgiving Desk” or a “Santa’s Workshop Office Space” contest? Colorful leaves, pumpkins, and turkey feathers for Thanksgiving; elves, creative stockings, and ingenious snowmen during the winter holidays. You couldsupplement the personal workspace decor with a $5-10 gift card to Michael’s or another craft store.

A New Year-themed poster with words and images of the employee’s goals for the following year is a fun, visual way for employees to think creatively about their annual aspirations. You can hang the posters on the office walls to include teammate support and motivation.

There are endless ways to bring creativity and fun to the physical and virtual workspace as festive as Gran’s jellied fruitcake.

‘Merry Christmas, you filthy animal’

Yeah…that may not be the most professional way to express your appreciation to employees. That said, appreciation should take the spotlight in your holiday employee engagement strategy. Share your gratitude to your team for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Consider sending personalized thank-you cards with a sprinkle of glitter. Or host a Thanksgiving-themed appreciation luncheon with pumpkin-spiced everything. Remember, it’s not just about your words but the warm fuzzies they inspire, like getting a cozy hug from dear Aunt Edna.

Don’t get your employee’s tinsel in a tangle

The holiday season is a time for celebration and relaxation, but it can also be a whirlwind of obligations and cheesy Hallmark movies. To keep employees engaged, respecting their time and setting clear boundaries is crucial. As LightspeedHQ suggests, “Be mindful of the workload and avoid overloading your team with excessive tasks during the holiday season.”

Respecting employee’s time is an integral part of workplace inclusivity. Over 20 holidays between October and February reflect a cornucopia of faith and cultural backgrounds. Flexibility ensures that employees can enjoy quality time with their loved ones to celebrate the holiday traditions with personal, fulfilling meaning.

Support your Gnomies

Like a hot toddy, offering flexible work hours or the option to work remotely warms the cockles of the soul. HubSpot advises, “Empower your employees to take advantage of flexible schedules to balance work and holiday commitments.” This flexibility allows employees to manage their work-life balance better and helps maintain their engagement during the season. It’s like giving them a hall pass to skip that awkward family game of pin the nose on Rudolph.

Support can cover a host of approaches. Ask yourself:

  • What kind of support do your employees need?
  • Are the holidays a source of joy or sheer chaos for employees?
  • What’s the contingency plan for employees who are out sick for multiple days during the cold and flu season?
  • How can you ease the burden for employees while infusing fun and stress relief?

Take time to ask these questions as the holiday season kicks off. One employee wants to work through the holidays to avoid unpleasant memories. Another wants to take the entire month off to enjoy skiing. Knowing this helps you create an environment where you meet employee needs while still being productive.

Check out our blog, Grow Your Marketing with Gratitude, for tips on expressing gratitude.

Hire Santa’s helpers

Sometimes, the holiday season might bring an avalanche of work that’s too much for your trusty team to handle. Don’t hesitate to enlist some festive elves to brighten your holiday season. Seasonal workers can lend a hand with various tasks, ensuring that your team isn’t handling more than a Santa’s sleigh full of responsibilities. Adding extra support during the holiday hustle and bustle can transform the game, keeping productivity high and spreading holiday cheer.

Temp help doesn’t have to be work-related to benefit employee productivity and mental health. Have your employees bring in the gifts they want to wrap and hire a couple of gift wrappers to make the magic happen. Gift wrapping is a huge time commitment for some people, and dedicated gift wrappers are appreciated.

Provide a few DoorDash or similar holiday gift cards to make mealtime a breeze. Sometimes, it’s the little things that keep employees motivated.

Bring a chair masseuse into the office to help your employees relax and feel cared for.

The list of goodness is only limited to your budget and creativity. So, have some FUN supporting your team.

It’s all gravy

As you can see, keeping your employees engaged during the holiday season is like cooking a holiday feast—it takes preparation, creativity, and a dash of love. By addressing the challenge ahead of time, getting into the festive spirit, showing your gratitude, respecting employees’ time, and offering support, you can create a workplace that thrives during the holiday season. As Winston Churchill famously said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” We are wishing you and yours a season of warmth and gratitude.

Grand slam swag

Got a big trade show coming up?
Is your company celebrating 20 years in the biz?
Are you thinking about giving out promotional swag, but don’t know where to start?

We get it. Before you endure another extensive, overwhelming, endless web search for promo gift ideas or inexpensive conference giveaways, stop!

Take a deep breath, step back, and think about your audience and what you want your branded swag to convey to potential customers and your employees.

Globally, 85% of people who are given a promotional item will remember the advertiser that gave it to them. (ASI Central). That’s why your branded giveaways need to stand out for all the right reasons. Forget on-brand mini footballs if you’re in the manufacturing business. Don’t give out carabiner keychains if you’re a beauty company. Pencils if you’re a software company? Yeah, no. You get the idea. The right swag will make a positive impression on your leads, clients, and employees.

Triple-play giveaways

A memorable giveaway has three purposes and if it doesn’t touch all the bases, you’re wasting your time and your money. Even worse, you could leave potential clients with no other choice than to seek other options – companies who put more thought into their brand promotion. At a minimum, your swag should:

  • Boost brand awareness
  • Generate potential leads
  • Generate excitement for your specific services or products

From there, you can be as creative, thrifty, or as OTT as you want to be.

Let’s look at the power of smart swag:

Mariners MLB baseball player cheering

First up, how does your giveaway support your company’s mission? Are you focused on sustainability? Give away a reusable canvas tote with your logo and tagline. Are you a business that promotes inclusivity? Choose a mug with a powerful message like Corrine Gray’s “If you can be anything, be inclusive.” Make the tote bag colorful, or simple, or modern, or…

At least 40% of consumers have kept hold of a promo product for more than ten years – that’s a decade of brand impressions. (ASI Central). That means, bottom line, your promotional items should be relevant and align with the values and needs of your target market.

Quality matters

Did you know that 72% of consumers believe that the quality of a promotional product is directly related to the reputation of the company? (PPAI).

When you distribute meaningful giveaways at events, you generate buzz, attract attention, and spark engaging conversations. Giveaways give you the opportunity to speak with valuable leads, both verbally and non-verbally. Eye-catching swag will help you gain visibility by showcasing your message throughout the event.

Whether you’re giving away an all-inclusive trip to Cabo, or creating a fun and interactive booth experience, your swag is your MVP. Compelling swag draws visitors to your booth and opens doors to further engagement. For our tips on winning at trade shows, check out our blog on maximizing your presence at industry events.

Outsource Marketing: Swag slugger

When partnering with a company for your promotional swag needs, Outmark® stands in a league of its own. We’re team players with a lot of experience elevating a business’s brand image through products and messaging. We treat your swag as we do our own. We make it fun.

We are a full-service marketing firm that’s developed and managed brands-big and small- since 1997. We partner with you to craft giveaways that sync with your brand identity, values, and messaging. We handle every detail, from selecting the right colors and fonts to flawless fusion with your logo and messaging.

But we don’t stop at creating amazing swag. Outmark connects promo items with your broader marketing efforts, turning each piece into a powerful tool for engagement. By integrating:

  • QR codes
  • Web and landing pages
  • Email campaigns
  • Social media posts
  • Raffles and contests
  • Eye-catching booth designs

We seamlessly bridge the gap between offline and online experiences. Your swag becomes a gateway to further brand interactions, leading your audience toward discovery, connection, and conversion.

Employee swag: Building connections that hit all the bases

Be sure to remember your other MVPs—your internal team! Swag goes beyond events and clients; it’s a fantastic tool for building a strong connection within your internal team. Employee swag is a tangible symbol of appreciation and belonging, creating a sense of unity and pride. Here are a few examples of how employee swag can strengthen the bond among your team members:

Welcome kits

When onboarding new employees, a thoughtful welcome kit filled with branded goodies sets the stage for a positive employee experience. It makes them feel valued and creates a sense of excitement and anticipation for their journey with the company. Consider including items like branded notebooks, mugs, or company apparel.

Swag for milestones

Celebrate important milestones and achievements of your employees with customized swag. Whether it’s a work anniversary, a promotion, or reaching significant goals, recognizing these accomplishments with special swag items creates a sense of recognition and motivates the entire team. Think about personalized plaques, engraved pens, or exclusive company-branded items.

Team spirit gear

Foster a strong sense of team spirit and camaraderie with swag that showcases your company culture and values, or reinforces internal initiatives. Design team-specific t-shirts, hats, or hoodies representing each department or project team. Wearing these items can help strengthen the bond within your team.

Gifting branded items to employees creates a shared identity and boosts morale, leading to a more engaged and connected workforce.

Game-winning swag

Are you ready to create game-changing giveaways for your employees, clients, and leads? We’re here to help you build a brilliant swag strategy that creates a positive brand experience, builds customer loyalty, unifies employees, and leaves a lasting impression. We help you become swagtegic.

Discover how we can help you create swag that’s fun. Because it’s fun to be good.

Join in the giving with Outsource Marketing’s holiday tradition

Giving back is hardwired into our DNA at Outmark®, so during the holidays we share a little love (and a modest donation) to the causes near and dear to our hearts. Here are the organizations we’ve selected for “Doing Good December.” We hope they inspire you to do a little holiday giving of your own.

Abigail Quam – Center for Human Rights in Iran

Abigail chose this independent, nonprofit organization that fights to protect and promote the human rights of the people of Iran. Especially in light of the women’s rights movement and the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini and many others suffering under Iran’s tyrannical government, there is a call for political change.

Make a donation

Andrea Moretsky – Parkinson’s Foundation

Andrea selected the Parkinson’s Foundation because her mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s several years ago. She saw her go from a healthy, active, and engaged to someone who struggled to participate in life. The things that brought her joy — taking long walks, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, quilting, and traveling — were all taken from her. The Parkinson’s Foundation’s mission is to improve care and advance research toward a cure.

Make a donation

Britta Springer – World Resources Institute

People have been experiencing the growing effects of climate change for some time now, but lately, things have felt worse. So this year, Britta started changing one habit at a time to decrease her ecological footprint. She’s excited about The World Resources Institute’s work to tackle global challenges on climate change, renewable energy, deforestation, ocean health, water risk, sustainable cities, food systems, and more.

Make a donation

Jeanie Walker – Pacific Pug Rescue

With Jeanie’s three adorable senior pugs joining our video calls, it was easy to see why she picked this organization. Pacific Pug Rescue is dedicated to finding furever homes for abandoned, neglected, and surrendered pugs with an emphasis on seniors and the expensive medical care they desperately need.

Make a donation

Jen Kodosky – Athletes for Kids

As an engaged parent of two athletes, Jen wanted her donation to go to Athletes for Kids. This organization serves children in grades 1-12 with disabilities and special needs. Athletes for Kids match every child with a high school athlete to mentor them for one to three years. This program nurtures kindness, acceptance, and inclusion, one mentorship at a time.

Make a donation

Kayla Everett – Vibrant Palette Arts Center

As a graphic designer, Kayla has a love for the arts. Our donation to the Vibrant Palette Arts Center will help empower artists with disabilities, give them a platform to showcase their work, and nurture inclusion in Seattle’s art community.

Make a donation

Kayla Horton – Malala Fund

The Malala Fund advocates for girls’ rights to free, safe, quality education. Malala Yousafzai’s story is one of the first that really sparked Kayla’s interest in politics and activism growing up. She couldn’t grasp how education wasn’t a right for everyone until she dove deeper into her story. Kayla has donated to the Malala Fund every year since it began in 2013.

Make a donation

Lilly Stall – Camp Kesem

Lilly chose Camp Kesem because it is very near and dear to her heart. She was a counselor for two years at UC Santa Cruz, an experience that has greatly impacted her life. Kesem felt like a home away from home, where you were surrounded by driven and charismatic individuals who were not afraid to let their silly out with camp songs and messy Olympics. This student-led organization raises funds to provide children impacted by their parent’s cancer with a free week-long summer camp.

Make a donation

Lizzie Gow – National Down Syndrome Society

As an older sibling to someone with Down Syndrome, Lizzie saw at a young age how lacking general respect and resources were for people with Down Syndrome. Her brother Max is such a light in her life, so Lizzie wants to support the Down Syndrome community’s rights and quality of life. They deserve to pursue their own dreams and aspirations.

Make a donation

Miguel Mejias – The Animal Foundation

Miguel’s donation is going to The Animal Foundation. The organization’s mission to save the lives of healthy and treatable animals in Las Vegas valley is one that Miguel feels strongly about. Let’s help create a humane and compassionate world for animals of all shapes, sizes, and breeds.

Make a donation

Nick LaPolla – The Wounded Warrior Project

Nick wanted to donate to The Wounded Warrior Project because he is passionate about our Veterans getting the help they deserve after sacrificing more than we can imagine for us. Veterans need our help, and when you donate to this cause, 100% of the proceeds go directly to wounded veterans.

Make a donation

Olivia Shaw – Global Fund for Women

Olivia has always felt strongly about issues surrounding women and gender equality. She has been so inspired by women across the world who risk their lives just by speaking out and fighting for basic rights and freedoms. The Global Fund for Women backs local, women-led movements and grassroots organizations in 176 countries. They support efforts in climate justice, ending sexual and gender-based violence, education for girls, and workers’ rights.

Make a donation

Patrick Byers – Endometriosis Foundation of America

Patrick’s spouse has stage four Endometriosis, so he selected the Endometriosis Foundation of America. “Endo” is misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and severely underfunded: Although 1 in 10 U.S. women between ages 15 and 44 live with the condition, women suffer for years with severe, life-impacting pain and life-threatening complications before they find someone who knows anything about the disease. There are very few doctors that understand it, and fewer know how to help.

Make a donation

Rick Blythe – National Alliance on Mental Illness

Rick chose NAMI because of the resources, guidance, and assistance this organization provided when an adult family member experienced a serious mental health crisis. NAMI’s local support groups for families and their positive impact with state-level lobbying are making significant progress in addressing serious mental health issues.

Make a donation

Tricia Vowles – Alzheimer’s Association

Tricia chose to support the Alzheimer’s Association for Outmark’s “Doing Good December” in honor of her grandmother, who is an Alzheimer’s patient. Since her diagnosis, Tricia has experienced first-hand the effects of this disease on patients and families. This organization leads nationwide initiatives on Alzheimer’s care, support, and advocacy, and through their research, is working toward a world without Alzheimer’s or Dementia.

Make a donation

Rheana Hersey – Step by Step

As a mom of two little ones, Rheana wanted her donation to go to the mothers at the Step by Step program. Step by Step empowers mothers by providing help to women with high-risk pregnancies, giving them and their babies the best chance to thrive. Caring every step of the way, Step by Step continues to offer support and resources to mothers after birth to establish safe homes and secure futures for them and their children.

Tame the marketing planning monster

It’s that time of year again. Those two words creep up on you every damn year: marketing planning. Did that just send chills down your spine? Sorry about that.

You might feel like…

  • You won’t get everything done in the current year that you wanted to
  • You’re getting ready to start a new year without a marketing plan (okay, now that is scary)
  • You’re over budget or might even have an unused budget to spend
  • Marketing planning monsters from the Upside Down rear their ugly heads every year
  • Some combo of the above

Marketing planning can seem like you’re all alone out there

Well, we’re going to push you out of your comfort zone and tell you that it can actually be fun. More of that goofy-smile-on-your-face-you-get-when-you-check-items-off-your-to-do-list kind of fun. There’s no way around it: planning is necessary if you want your marketing to be effective. But when your plan is done, your marketing is humming, and you have a clear strategy for continuous improvement, it’s pretty amazing. It’s fun to be good.

Enter the year-end planning dimension with this simple formula

  • Review lessons learned. Look at the goals you had for this year, and see how the results are stacking up. List your wins and challenges, and turn lessons learned into actionable insights for the upcoming year.
  • Draft S.M.A.R.T. goals for next year. Make them strong but achievable. And make sure they map to your company’s positioning, mission, and strategic plan.
  • Select strategies and tactics to help achieve each goal. Your contact strategy should be based upon where your customers go for their information, how they make their buying decisions, and other purchasing drivers. Meet them where they gather to learn about products and services like yours.
  • Come up with measurable KPIs for each goal. Determine how you’re going to track the progress of each goal, and then schedule a time to review the KPIs regularly.
  • Determine your budget and talent. How much of your annual budget is allocated for each tactic? And who’s going to do the work?
Max from Stranger Things running away from a falling building Vecna's world.

Run up that hill with a marketing outsourcing firm

If planning doesn’t sound like fun to you, no matter how hard we’ve tried to sell it, consider a marketing outsourcing firm to shed the weight of year-end planning. An outsourced marketing firm will handle the heavy lifting so you can focus on your core competencies.

And when it’s time to execute your plan, you can leave that freelancer shuffle behind. At Outmark®, we combine unique and meaningful positioning based on consumer insights and deliver responsible results via an integrated team of best-fit talent.

To see how we can help you turn your marketing plan up to 11, give us a shout. Stranger things have happened, right?

The importance of company branding

As the legendary anchorman, Ron Burgundy once said, “I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. I’m very important.” You may ask yourself, what does this have to do with company branding? The answer is nothing and everything. The thing is, your company’s brand is a big deal. It’s much more than slapping a logo together and choosing a color palette. Your brand is important because it’s the identity and personality of your business.

In today’s digital age, branding is an even bigger deal than before because customers are interacting with your brand everywhere they turn or scroll online. Your website, social media, video content, radio promotions, print advertising, and more are all opportunities to build brand recognition and reputation with consumers. So yeah, it is kind of a big deal to get it right.

Create the brand identity

With a foundation of strategic positioning, your brand helps communicate who your company is and can help reinforce your competitive advantage.

On the one hand, you have brand assets like your name, logo, tagline, and design. While the logo may be your company’s face, other things identify your brand. Like a person, their face is the most recognizable, but it isn’t their only defining quality. If you look at a person from the back, you can see how they carry themselves, their walk, hair, and how they dress to understand what this person looks like without ever seeing their face.

On the other hand, you have the brand’s attributes that communicate its personality to the consumers. These characteristics include your credibility, emotional connection, brand awareness, and purchase motivation. All pieces of the puzzle must harmonize to create a solid brand identity that aligns with consumer behaviors, actions, and communications.

Tailor the brand experience

Now it’s time to find the method to the madness. The experience of your brand is how people will feel interacting with it. To get the most out of your company branding experience, everything you do should relate back to your target demographic. Ask yourself, with every touchpoint or marketing material created, how does it make your target audience feel in their gut?

For example, if you were starting a yoga studio, you would want your customer to feel calm and refreshed when they experience your brand. Take a moment to think of some of the businesses you frequent. What feeling do they give you, and do you think it impacts how you view their brand?

Outline the brand strategy

So you made it past the first two steps, and now it’s time to strategize. For a brand’s strategy to be great, you must polish up your most vital attributes and get them camera-ready.

A good brand strategy considers your:

  • Communication
  • Tone
  • Depth
  • Personality
  • Differentiators
  • Positioning

Remember, your brand is an expression of your business strategy, so you need an in-depth understanding of the consumer and your competition. When your strategy is well researched and consistent, showcasing your value propositions to the market has a higher success rate.

Communicate the brand value

Every great news anchor has a killer co-anchor, and the chemistry between your brand and its value propositions should follow suit. But how do you communicate your value propositions effectively? Everything hinges on answering, “why would a customer choose your business over the other options?” You can unlock your target market’s deciding factors from that question and tailor your messaging to be authentic. When your communication is original, it creates a connection with the consumer that resonates on a personal level.

For example, let’s say you’re opening a small coffee shop. A common mistake would be to see what large competitors are doing and try to compete with them. But you’re not Starbucks, and when people go to an independent coffee shop, they are looking for a change of pace. Sure, Starbucks has an extensive and ever-changing menu and is accessible everywhere.

But a small shop can perfect its menu, create eye-catching latte art, introduce specials on a whim, host events, sell items from local vendors, and maintain a more relaxed and comfortable space. If a customer walked into your shop and you were mirroring the Starbucks model, ugh, cue the disappointment. There are a million Starbucks locations out there. Your target market is looking for a new experience.

Keep your branding consistent

Once everything is ironed out with your company branding, you must ensure everyone handling your marketing and sales is on the same page. After all, what is the point of working so hard to create a brand and custom messaging if it isn’t used consistently?

Consider this. Is it McDonald’s without the golden arches? Is it Gatorade without the athletic sports commercials? Is it Apple without the Genius Bar? What makes your brand unique is what builds a relationship with consumers. Whether your brand makes customers feel safe, relaxed, motivated, or stylish, that feeling is why they come back repeatedly.

How we use the CliftonStrengths assessment to deepen our culture https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/blog/cliftonstrengths-assessment/ https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/blog/cliftonstrengths-assessment/#respond Tue, 25 May 2021 22:53:00 +0000 https://www.outsourcemarketing.com/?p=18623 The post How we use the CliftonStrengths assessment to deepen our culture appeared first on Outsource Marketing.

I’ve got a test for you.

Think about these words:

  • Executing
  • Influencing
  • Relationship building
  • Strategic thinking

Which describes your greatest strength? There’s no wrong answer because it’s about how you feel. What drives you. Your mojo.

Sound like your kind of test? Mine too.

The CliftonStrengths assessment is named after its inventor, Dr. Don Clifton (1924-2003). Clifton was a famous psychologist who determined there are 34 personality tendencies. The assessment finds the top five tendencies that you lead with and where your greatest potential lies. These strengths are grouped into four domains: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking. The assessment and results are all backed by over 50 years of Gallup data. Giddyup.

“What would happen if we studied what was right with people?”

– Dr. Don Clifton

CliftonStrengths focuses on changing the mindset of leaders who spend valuable resources on fixing what is wrong with people. Why do we stick staff in hours of training, or roles that will never play to their strengths and only frustrate them? Why not focus on their talents instead? Used by everyone from Fortune 1000 companies to mom-and-pop shops, the CliftonStrengths test is key to retaining motivated leaders, engaged employees, and happy clients

How does the CliftonStrengths test work?

To access the assessment, Gallup offers a variety of options. Once you take the test, you’ll receive resources and tools to learn more about your strengths and how to apply them. This works best if your entire team, from top to bottom, participates.

Next, review everyone’s results and have them talk it out. You may find some surprises. Perhaps quiet Connie in the corner shows high in Ideation strength, but you’ve never once tapped her for a brainstorming session. Or demanding Dave is actually a big squishy teddy bear who is strong in the Empathy and Includer category.

Executing

Influencing

Relationship Building

Strategic Thinking

People with dominant Executing themes know how to make things happen. People with dominant Influencing themes know how to take charge, speak up, and make sure the team is heard. People with dominant Relationship Building themes have the ability to build strong relationships that can hold a team together and make the team greater than the sum of its parts. People with dominant Strategic Thinking themes help teams consider what could be. They absorb and analyze information that can inform better decisions.
Achiever Activator Adaptability Analytical
Arranger Command Connectedness Context
Belief Communication Developer Futuristic
Consistency Competition Empathy Ideation
Deliberative Maximizer Harmony Input
Discipline Self-Assurance Includer Intellection
Focus Significance Individualization Learner
Responsibility
Woo
Positivity
Strategic
Restorative Relator

When forming teams, think about who’s Restorative and thrives on solving problems. Who can bring Harmony to the team? Perhaps someone is stronger in the Context strength and can bring deeper insight into a project. Remember, there is no one way to lead.

For your own personal development, create an action plan for developing your strengths further. Talk with your manager or mentor about ways you can focus more on your talents. Teams aren’t always filled with rainbows and happy little trees, so if you’re butting heads with someone, revisit their personality profile and adjust accordingly. Grab a beer and discuss how you can work better together.

CliftonStrengths is key to our culture at Outmark®

It’s fun to be good.® So anytime we hire a new team member, they get some fresh Outmark swag, a taco lunch, and a copy of “StrengthsFinder.” After they take the assessment, they import their results into our beautifully color-coded spreadsheet where we compare and contrast the entire team’s profiles. We look for similarities, talk about how we can best work with that person, and think about how the team can play off their strengths.

If someone is blocking progress on a project, we revisit their personality profile and look for opportunities instead of focusing on the negatives. We review someone’s CliftonStrengths profile every two weeks at our team meeting and if it’s been a few years, we’ll take the assessment again.

“Ask yourself this question right now: Are you building a career and life through attempting to fix your weaknesses or through developing and applying your strengths?”

-Jim Clifton, Chairman and CEO of Gallup

Well, are you?

At Outmark, we know that culture matters. We believe that it’s fun to be good, so we pick employees, partners, and clients that are good at what they do and fit our playful culture. We are pleased to announce that Rheana Hersey has been named a shareholder at Outsource Marketing, and has been promoted to Director of Creative Services.

Rheana joined Outmark in 2013 and has guided a full spectrum of creative work — from branding to advertising, web design, complex print projects, packaging, environmental design, and more. Her ability to bring fresh thinking to every new project, her creative talent management prowess, and her organization skills have made her an integral part of the Outmark team.

“We’re doubling down on our creative services and are bringing in and building new talent,” says Patrick Byers, Outsource Marketing’s founder. “I can’t think of anyone better to help us maintain our high standards and develop a department that can consistently deliver great creative for our clients.”

Rheana is up to it: “We respect the challenges all marketers face: short attention spans, the cluttered environment, reactive and tactical brand executions, tight budgets, not to mention COVID and all that it brings. I know great creative is a key ingredient to break through, and am excited to lead Outmark’s initiatives to help our clients make it happen.”

Look for creative to emerge in all the nooks and crannies in 2021. Including some places you might not expect.

Every year at Outsource Marketing we try to find ways to give back to others and support our community. Often we get together at the office and work on a charitable project or food donation, but as we all know this year is different.
