And I could have had our designer whip up a super-shareable killer infographic for good measure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But here\u2019s the deal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re all getting bombarded with information about how we should handle marketing during the COVID-19 crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Articles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re being advised to keep customers informed, but to not overload them with too much information. To not be tone-deaf. To sponsor a cause. We\u2019re being told it\u2019s important for leaders to regularly share updates. Or the opposite: stop marketing altogether and take this time to pause and reflect.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So instead I thought I\u2019d summarize our advice in a bite-sized, tidy fashion that you can run with:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a class=\"inline-twitter-link inline-tweet-click\" href=\"#\" onclick=\"inline_tweet_sharer_open_win('https:\\\/\\\/twitter.com\\\/intent\\\/tweet?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.outsourcemarketing.com%2Fwp-json%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F14918%2F&text=RT+%40outmark%3A+During+a+crisis%2C+keep+marketing+but+don%E2%80%99t+be+an+asshat.+');\" title=\"Tweet This!\">During a crisis, keep marketing but don&#8217;t be an asshat. <span class=\"dashicons dashicons-twitter dashicons-inline-tweet-sharer\"><\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yeah, I said \u201casshat.\u201d As in, keep working on your marketing but make sure your head is not in your ass while you do it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what does this mean?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It means be critically aware of your tone and messaging while <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continuing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your marketing efforts. Although it\u2019s not business as usual, it\u2019s imperative that your organization shows your customers (and staff!) you are still working hard toward your mission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If budgets are tighter than they\u2019ve ever been, brainstorm what you can still be doing to move marketing efforts forward. Perhaps it\u2019s finally developing your marketing plan, or updating your website. Revisiting your content planning. Finding new ways to delight your customers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, hey, it\u2019s okay to sprinkle moments of fun into your marketing, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">including social media posts,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> because you can say without any exaggeration that we <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">need it more than ever right now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re in new territory here.
